A O-ring chain is a drive chain for mopeds in which, by using O-rings, each pivot point of the chain is protected against penetrating dirt. The pivot points are hereby provided with a quantity of grease for the entire life of the chain. As no dirt/sand penetrates into each articulation point, there is hardly any increase in slack in the many pivot points of a chain, reducing the length increase and the need for tensioning. The chain does need lubrication because a bushing rotates around each pivot point, which in turn also makes metal contact with the sprocket teeth. An O-ring chain requires less maintenance such as tensioning and a longer (more than doubled) service life is achieved.
